When Printed Documents Are Still Better Than Digital

It’s not a secret that digital files have replaced printed documents in many instances. But there are still times where you still need an ink-on-paper record of a transaction, official form, or other experience. So where does it still make sense to use print?  Here are some examples: Official documents. These are things like vehicle […]

King Printing Solutions offers more than 30 different security features for printed documents—a capability that’s more and more important in today’s world. In the past, we’ve discussed security papers and how they can protect important documents. There are also ways to protect your documents from fraud or counterfeiting by using security printing inks.

Security inks offer a number of different security strategies, both passive and active. For example, specialized security inks can:

  • Change color when rubbed with a metal object
  • Penetrate the paper to imitate watermarks
  • Glow under ultraviolet light
  • Change color with temperature.

Specialty security printing inks can also be used so the document can’t be easily photocopied or scanned.

Security Inks Help Prevent Counterfeiting

There’s more you can do. Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) technology makes print soak through the paper and appear in a different color on the back side of the document. This is very difficult for someone to duplicate.

With our high quality printing, we can also use printed screens in the background for extra safety.  For example, Pantographs are screens of words like “VOID” or “Original Document”  that are visible on authentic piece. Or they may feature multiple colors so they’re almost impossible to photocopy.

Microprint is very small type that is readable under magnification and becomes a solid line if copied or scanned. Microprint is commonly used for borders and signature lines. Again, our precision printing of microprint is another way to use ink to protect your document.

King Printing Solutions can provide you with a custom security strategy tailored to your organization that can protect your valuable documents. We’ll work with you to determine where the most risk is, and suggest the security features that can provide you with the most protection. We’ll also look at how your documents are printed, so we can determine the most efficient way to incorporate security into your normal print runs.
